Trish Goulet

Trish Goulet obtained her J.D. from the University of Manitoba in 2011.  She was the recipient of numerous awards, including the Roger Carter Scholarship and the Helen Betty Osborne Memorial Foundation Bursary.  Her LL.M. research focuses on Aboriginal Law, with particular emphasis on Cree Legal Traditions.   Ms. Goulet is a Cree from Northern Manitoba and she is the recipient of The Right Honorable Brian Dickson Fellowship for her LL.M. research.

Russell Dufault

Russell obtained a B.Sc. from the University of Manitoba in 2006, and an LL.B. with First Class Honours from the University of Westminster School of Law in London, UK in 2011. He has worked for an NGO in the Netherlands, been involved in Canada's major label music industry, and has summered at a law firm in London. In 2010, Russell received credit in a paper published by the Legal Services Board of England and Wales examining diversity in the legal profession; his first published article, a piece on international strict liability policy, will be included in the November 2011 edition of the Westminster Law Review. For his LL.M. studies, Russell was awarded a research fellowship from the Marcel A. Desautels Centre for Private Enterprise and the Law. Russell’s research interests include business and commercial law, e-commerce, and copyright law.

Olakunle Oyeyipo

Olakunle Oyeyipo obtained his LL.B from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Nigeria, in 2004, graduating at the top of his class, and  was awarded the Professor David Adedayo Ijalaye Prize for the best  graduating student with the highest mark in Public International  Law. He has taught Business and Commercial Law, is a member of the Nigerian Bar, and has practised law.  His LL.M.  research is in the area of Emissions Trading, International Trade and Business Law. He is the recipient of the prestigious University of Manitoba Graduate Fellowship and the Adalsteinn Fridrikson Kristjansson Graduate Fellowship.

Azim Jiwa

Azim Jiwa obtained his LL.B. from the University of Victoria in British Columbia in 1992.  His LL.M. research interests are in Constitutional Law with a particular emphasis on the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms, the interplay of Immigration and Refugee Law with the Charter, and the relationship and interaction between the courts and Parliament. He is the recipient of the David T. Sgayias Graduate Fellowship.

Karla Neudert-Holguin

Karla Neudert-Holguin received her Bachelor in Law from Technologico de Monterrey Campus, Chihuahua, Mexico, graduating at the top of her class.  Having immigrated to Canada, her LL.M. research interests include terrorist financing, international law and aboriginal studies.  She is the recipient of a Sgayias Fellowship.

 

 

Alan Sweatman

Having received his LL.B. in 1972, Alan Sweatman pursued a varied legal practice which included general counsel tor an oil and gas consortium, general counsel for an investment service as well as counsel to mining corporations. Into his retirement, his LL.M. research is in the area of children's rights in the context of parental separation and divorce.

 

 

Bryce Jatto

Bryce Jatto obtained his LL.B. from Nnamdi Azikiwe University in 2004, graduating first class, the highest ranked student in both the Faculty of Law and the University. He was also the recipient of the Prize for the Best Student in Civil Trial at the Nigerian Law School.  He has taught jurisprudence, is a member of the Nigerian Bar and has practiced law.  His LL.M. research is in the area of PPP's, Project Finance and Private Enterprise. He is the recipient of the Manitoba Graduate Scholarship and the Desautels Fellowship in Private Enterprise and the Law.

 

 

Ayodele Akenroye

Ayodele Akenroye received his LL.B. from Obafemi Awolowo University, graduating at the top of his class, and was awarded the Sir Lionel Brett Prize in Criminal Procedure.

A member of the Nigerian Bar, his LL.M. research interests are in the area of peace and security in West Africa.  He is the recipient of the Adalsteinn Fridrikson Kristjansson Fellowship.

 

 

Dilton Ribeiro

Dilton Ribeiro graduated from the University of Southwest Bahia, Brazil and subsequently received a degree in International Tax Treaty Law from the University of Santa Catarina/LFG.  His LL.M. research interests are international law, international human rights law, treaty law, international law and diplomacy, and international law and conflict resolution.
