Aboriginal Category

Robson Hall, Faculty of Law believes that Aboriginal people represent unique groups in Canada, including Métis, Indian, and Inuit heritage, and are worthy of individual acknowledgement in the admissions process. Our process is designed to facilitate access to legal education and the profession for Aboriginal people. Robson Hall Faculty of Law considers the applicant's involvment with and commitment to First Nations communities and organizations, and the applicant's intention to use his or her legal training to advance First Nations' concerns and interests.

Category Requirements:

1. Personal Statement
Post marked by November 30, a typed personal statement of no more than 1,500 words double spaced should be sent to the Faculty. The statement should clearly highlight the Applicant's connection to and/or involvement in the Aboriginal community.

2. Résumé & Half-Time Questionnaire
Post marked by November 30, a résumé highlighting work, volunteer and education experiences should be sent to the Faculty. Maximum length is two 8.5x11 pages.

Applicants applying for Half-Time studies must complete a half-time questionnaire.

3. Reference Letters & Cover Forms
Post-marked by November 30, applicants should arrange for 3 reference letters to be mailed directly to the Faculty by the Referee. Ensure a copy of the cover form is made available to the Referee. Academic References are not required, but strongly encouraged.  The cover form and reference letter should be sent in a signed & sealed envelope by the Referee; forms and letters sent by Applicants will not be considered or read. It is the responsibility of the Applicant to ensure reference forms and letters are received in the Faculty by the deadline.

Application Assessment

Applications will be reviewed as a whole in the Aboriginal category with no weight attached to one specific requirement. AGPA and LSAT score will be considered, however not to the exclusive extent as in the Regular category. Reasons for decisions are not recorded or given.
