Each year the Faculty of Law accepts approximately 106 first year students.
Eligibility Requirements
In addition to a valid LSAT score, one of the following scenarios is required:
- Successfully complete a minimum of 10 full courses or 20 half courses (or equivalent of) by April 30 in the year admission is sought
- Successfully complete a minimum of 5 full courses or 10 half courses (or equivalent) if you are 26 years of age by September 1 of the year admission is sought, and have not completed a Bachelor's degree.
In either scenario, the course work must be graded (not pass/fail) and can be of any prescribed course of studies evaluated as degree level coursework at the University of Manitoba or an acceptable equivalent thereof. A half course is one semester in duration and a full course is two semesters.
There are 3 categories of admission to First Year:
- Aboriginal Category
- Index Score (regular) Category
- Individual Consideration Category
The Juris Doctor, J.D., is a full-time, three year degree program. The Deadline to apply is November 1 prior to the year which entry is sought. Download a copy of the 2012-13 Applicant Information Bulletin .

Early Offers are made to the top percentage of the applicant pool in the Index Score category in late December. Offers are made in March to Individual Consideration and early July to Index Score applicants; & Aboriginal applicants, the wait list is created in early July.
